What is a Frame Transfer

A frame transfer lets you bypass the MA Approved Firearms Roster. Without getting into technical details, the frame transfer process allows you to get whatever handgun / revolver / pistol you want so as long as it is not built into an Assault Style Firearm. A frame transfer requires two dealers - a manufacturer who can legally change the category of the firearm (pistol to frame, for example) and a dealer who will perform the transfer. The Civilian Supply is a licensed firearms manufacturer and our business partner, RG Sports in Littleton, MA, is a state licensed dealer.

How Does the Frame Transfer Process Work?

The process is as follows:

1. You purchase an item through The Civilian Supply. This can be done by checking out through our online store and selecting "MA Frame Transfer Pickup" at checkout. If there is an item we don't have in stock, we will order it for you and send you a payment link to your phone and/or email
2. Once the item is in, I manufacture the firearm into a frame. Then, I hand it off to the MA Dealer - RG Sports.
3. You go to RG Sports in Littleton and follow the standard process to obtain a firearm: 4473, background check, and state background check.
4. Once you complete the above steps, the firearm is yours.

Is There a Feee Involved?

There is a $35 fee per firearm. In certain instances, there may be a reduced fee if multiple firearms are transferred at once. However, this is up to the discretion of the dealer.

Frame Transfer Days and Hours

Frame transfers currently only take place on the following days:
Saturdays, 11AM-3PM.
Other days/times are available by appointment. You can contact RG Sports directly to set up an alternative time.

Outside Transfer Information (Gunbroker, Private Party, Auction, etc.)

The Civilian Supply will accept outside transfers under certain criteria. In all cases, please check with us first before you send an outside order. Any orders we need to reject, or our MA dealer partner will not transfer (frames that are bannded by name as ASF for example), will still be liable for a transfer fee. Our shop policies for transfers are as follows:

• Email/chat/text us before sending anything to The Civilian Supply.
• For all factory new items that we can get through our distributors/vendors, we do not accept outside transfers.
• If we can't get an item through our distributors/vendors, you are more than welcome to send it to The Civilian Supply.
• Used items, curio and relic, and items purchased via private party will always be okay. However, we ask that you still inform us first prior to sending a transfer.

Our transfer fee, which involves the legal recategorization of each firearm into a frame, is $35.00. This is separate from the fee you will pay at the MA Dealer. When evaluating the price of the item, please take into account the two transfer fees required.

The Civilian Supply exists to help MA residents get what they want. Not only do you save on taxes when ordering through us, but you also will be working with a MA dealer who only does transfers for The Civilian Supply. The process from start to finish is streamlined. All you need to do is show up, fill out some paperwork, and leave with your new non-roster gun.

Additionally, we are happy to help you get in items from places that otherwise will not ship to MA.
