Welcome, Fellow MA Folk

Massachusetts customers are always welcome in my shop. Being a MA resident myself, all of the nonsensical laws/bullying/hatred towards firearms owners in the state impacts me as well. It also lets me focus my efforts on helping MA customers get what they want despite the various laws and interpretations. Below, you will find some useful information that can help you with your shopping experience at The Civilian Supply.

What We Won't Do

We will never ask for an ID or LTC for ammunition purchases, or the purchases of magazines and other related accessories. We will never sell something to you that we would not feel comfortable selling to ourselves. We will never treat you like less of a customer because you happen to live in a state that resents the 2nd Amendment. We will never upcharge, charge more, or expect extra fees because of where you happen to live. We will never store any data, sales orders, or information unless required by state (New Hampshire) and/or Federal law to effectively and legally operate as a federal firearms licensee.

Did You Know?

It is perfectly legal to buy, and have transferred to you, long guns (shotguns and rifles) across state lines. This means MA residents can buy shotguns and rifles in New Hampshire and take them home that day after completing a 4473 and NICS check. The only criteria is that the item is legal to own in Massachusetts. Not only do we stock an assortment of current and pre-ban items for MA customers, but as an 07 FFL we can also help with compliant builds for items that may be otherwise to difficult to obtain.

Handgun Transfers

Our partner location in Massachusetts is a dealer that can handle the transfer of any handgun purchased through our shop. While Massachusetts residents are bound to a Roster of Approved Firearms (handguns) we can still help you acquire "compliant" handguns and revolvers at good prices. If you have a question on whether or not an item can be transferred, or if it would be considered okay per the Roster, please contact me and we will figure it out together.

Assault Style Firearm Compliance

As of 10/02/2024, Massachusetts has an "Assault Style Firearm" ban in place. This ban is twofold: First, it limits ownership of certain long guns that are banned by name including the AR-15 and the AK-47 (although, there are workarounds - see below). Second, it limits the features you can have on all other semi-automatic rifles and shotguns. We are experienced in developing and applying compliance solutions for customers that have had similar restrictions in place in other states. We now will do the same for MA customers that want a semi-automatic rifle or shotgun that, as manufactured, would not pass the ASF features test. Our compliance work is a means to an end, and we can discuss the depth and permanence of each solution. Some compliance work measures include: -Pin & welds or silver soldering compliant muzzle devices on barrels -Removing grips and thumbhole stocks -Replacing or removing barrel shrouds designed to by a heat shield -Installing fixed magazines and action conversion kits, both of which de-assaultify your firearm If you have any question regarding a long gun and what compliance work may be needed, please reach out.

How to Get an AR, AK, or other Banned-by-Name Weapon after 10/02/2024

We start with a lower receiver that has never been turned into a rifle capable of accepting a detachable magazine. This is the key point for compliance with the current MA law.
Next, a fixed magazine is installed. In some instances, an action conversion kit may be available which turns the rifle from semi-automatic to bolt or lever action. There are advantages and drawbacks across all of these systems that we can discuss.
Build out the lower into a rifle. Then, I "manufacture" the lower receiver into a rifle, making it eligible for sale to MA residents with a valid LTC.
Once the rifle is ready, you will come into my shop, fill out a 4473, and complete a NICS background check. Once this step is done, you leave with your rifle. And since it is a fixed magazine build, you can have all the features you want: a flash hider, a collapsible stuck, a bayo lug, etc.
